Gay Marriage in Vermont

image "borrowed" from Graphjam.com

okay, this happened a while ago, but give me a break.

So Vermont is on the verge of allowing same-sex marriage. and as we all know, this will threaten marriage throughout the world, and will make us a modern day Sodom.

or so they say. really all that happens is that gay people get married. the usual argument against gay marriage comes from the bible, the whole thing about not lying with a man and such. but really, that's their only argument, and it sucks. these people want to deny a percent of the population the right to marriage because some archaic text said no gay sex. then they try to make it better by saying "well, civil unions are good enough, right?"

then the other major argument is that gay marriage "threatens traditional marriage."
wat.
how does that make any sense? the only marriages that will be affected are gay ones. straight people will still marry straight people. besides, tradition isn't always best. just because everybody used to own slaves and beat up black people doesn't mean we should do it now.

here's hoping the house and governor make the right decision.

F1R5T P05T!!!!!1!

No, it's not all like that.

Welcome to Things, etc., my personal corner of the web. Odds are that this blog will get better (i.e. do something) as I figure out what the hell I'm even doing here.

By now you may be thinking, "What exactly is this blog about anyway, bub?" I'm glad you asked. Things, etc. is my way to rant about random crap going on in the world in the hopes that somebody reads it. Please note ahead of time that i tend to take a moderate to frigging insanely liberal viewpoint, as well as an atheistic one. My plan is for this blog to be a combination of religion, politics, and various other things. maybe a little lofty, but hey, I'll give it a shot.

Stay tuneds to see what happens!
